Regeneration combines responsible re-mining, technology innovation, and restoration to create better community, climate, and biodiversity outcomes. Nearby as well as downstream communities benefit directly from the restoration of degraded lands and waterways. Most communities are frustrated with the miners and mining companies that left behind the degraded land, waste and pollution, and abandoned sites from past mining, especially due to the fact they saw very few of the benefits of that previous mineral extraction. At Regeneration sites, that waste is turned into a new opportunity that these lands, resources, and communities deserve. At each site, a community-backed closure vision is established. Where re-mining revenue may not be sufficient to restore a site, we can identify and access other funding sources including from philanthropy, corporate partners, and green finance to bring the vision to life. The initiative’s innovative business model and cross-industry partnerships can help increase the use of circular materials amongst other consumer-facing companies as well and help fuel the renewable energy transition, creating further widespread benefit.
